  7. Version  2.0 of Songanizer is a complete rewrite of the  original
  8. version  1.x  program.  Since the time I had originally  released
  9. the  program,  I  have  had  numerous requests  for  changes  and
  10. enhancements.   Some  I had added into version  2.0,  along  with
  11. changes that I felt I should add.
  12.  
  13. The  following  list  will describe the more obvious  changes  to
  14. Songanizer.  By no means is this a complete list, but  these  are
  15. the  ones that you will notice in every day use.  If you have not
  16. used  Songanizer before, this list will give you a brief  history
  17. of the program as well as what to expect with this version.
  18.  
  19. 1. Songanizer  now supports context-sensitive help.  By  pressing
  20.    the  <F1> key at various times in the program, Songanizer will
  21.    display  an  overview  of what you are looking  at,  and  what
  22.    options you can perform.

  24. 2. The report options have been improved.  Larger reports can now
  25.    be displayed on screen without memory errors.  Songanizer does
  26.    this  by  loading and displaying sections of a  total  report.
  27.    Printed  reports have been improved with a Printer Setup  menu
  28.    option to enable laser printers to take advantage of landscape
  29.    mode to print various detailed reports.

  31. 3. Search  times have been greatly reduced!!  For example,  on  a
  32.    386/40  using  a Song file containing 3300 records,  searching
  33.    for  a  song  beginning  with "Z" with  version  1.x  took  25
  34.    seconds.   With  Songanizer 2.0, search  times  were  under  1
  35.    second!!

  37. 4. A  conversion  utility will convert your  old  data  files  to
  38.    version 2.0 format (Registered users only).
  39.    
  40. 5. You  can alter the way Songanizer looks by toggling the screen
  41.    size  between 25 and 50 line mode, and by changing the  colors
  42.    of the background, menu items, and all entry screens.  Changes
  43.    can  be  saved to a file, and Songanizer will configure itself
  44.    at startup to use these settings.

  46. 6. Songanizer now has a DOS shell!!
  47.    
  48. 7. Album and Song searches can now go forwards and backwards.
  49.    
  50. 8. Songanizer  contains  a  new "Find Album"  screen,  to  locate
  51.    albums quicker.

  53. 9. Menu  items  are no longer shaded out.  Instead,  clicking  on
  54.    these  items  will  bring the selected entry  screen  forward,
  55.    placing it on top of all other open screens.

  57. 10.      When  you  update the album name or artist name  in  the
  58.    "Album  Edit"  screen,  all songs linked  to  that  album  are
  59.    automatically updated as well.
